In Other Wor(l)ds (2018) is an interactive installation consisting of 48 large scale (5.3 meter high x 1.5 meter wide) computer graphics images printed on semi-transparent textiles and embedded with animating LEDs, custom electronics, and networked data driven fans. Super-high resolution computer graphics employing turbulence algorithms, sensors and real-time global data are employed. Concept: winds of other places on Earth are visualized in the turbulence, and made physical and tactile in the movement of the 6 layers of hanging tactile textiles in real space-time; a reversal of VR and AR in the materialization and perceptual experience of the data. Soft Launch at RMIT Melbourne Gallery on 26 February 2018 as a joint exhibition with Dr Adam Nash in “Data is Nothing” with a “Hard Launch” at the 2018 Beyond 3D Festival at the ZKM Germany, on 3 October 2018. Thanks to Professor J Stephen Lansing, Asst Prof Galina Mihaleva, Mr Nagaraju Thummanapalli, Mr Liew Quek Choy, and students of the School of Art, Design and Media at Nanyang Technological University Singapore.
